Maya's First Week

Maya is a little over a week now, and she's already a handful. She has her days a nights mixed up, and at night when she should be sleeping she lays in her bassinet and screams until you pick her up. I haven't has much sleep this past week of being home from the hospital, but it's all worth it. She's a cute little thing and for those of you who were worried about it, I no longer think she looks like a slimey frog. I have more pics on my camera that I can't get uploaded, so I'll post some more as soon as I figure out how!

Maya is finally here!

So, to start I just want to say that I am sorry, but there won't be any pics yet. My mom was the photographer and she has all the pics on her camera, so when she comes over tonight I'll download them all and put some on here. I'll try to make this short because labor stories might not be so interesting to everyone. Nathan and I went in on Tuesday morning at 6am for the induction. By 6:45 they had ruptured my membranes (I sound fancy, huh?) and at noon I was still only dilated to a one. (That's what I was when I went in.) Well, I'm a wimp, so I got my epidural then even though the nurse didn't think I needed one yet. Easy for her to say. She wasn't the one in labor. At about 5:00 I was dilated to a five and ten minutes later the doctor came in touch check me and I was an 8. Well, Maya wasn't having too much fun in there and her heart rate was all over the place. They mentioned doing a c-section which I was all for at that point because I was miserable and exhausted, but the doc said to wait and I ended up being fine. At nine I was finally dilated to a 10 and I could finally start pushing. Yay! The epidural was finally working at that point after kind of being dumb all day, and I could not feel a thing. I didn't think I would ever be able to push her out, but after about 45 minutes at 9:48 after 15 hours of labor out came our beautiful little Maya May. Well, I have to admit I'm not the best mom and I totally thought she looked like a slimy little frog, but she totally cutened up later. I'm probably the only mom on the face of the planet that didn't think my baby was the most beautiful thing in the world, but that's ok. Anyway, she's a short fat little thing at 8 lbs. 70z. and is 19.5 inches and she didn't lose any weight in the hospital. She has an appetite like her daddy. So, that's our story. We're so glad to be home and feel so blessed to have a healthy beautiful little girl. We'll post pictures as soon as we have the chance!

What's wrong with this picture?

So, I didn't want to post a picture because as you can see I look like crap, but for posterity's sake I thought I should just go ahead and take one now in case I never have the chance again. Unfortunately I'll probably have lots more chances to take pregnant pics because it looks like I'll be pregnant for a little longer. Today is my due date and I'm still very much pregnant. I went to the doctor yesterday and I'm still only dilated to a one, so we scheduled my induction for Tuesday at 6am. Yay! Well, kind of. Tuesday is actually the worse possible day to be induced. Nathan has a project due that night and has to go to class and has two tests the next day, but what can you do? Hopefully she'll decide to come on her own, but at this point it's not looking like that is going to happen. It's a little depressing I'm not gonna lie, but at least she and I are both healthy. I guess it's better to be late than too early. Hopefully the next post I make will include pics of our little girl! Wish us luck!
