Maya's First Week

Maya is a little over a week now, and she's already a handful. She has her days a nights mixed up, and at night when she should be sleeping she lays in her bassinet and screams until you pick her up. I haven't has much sleep this past week of being home from the hospital, but it's all worth it. She's a cute little thing and for those of you who were worried about it, I no longer think she looks like a slimey frog. I have more pics on my camera that I can't get uploaded, so I'll post some more as soon as I figure out how!

Maya is finally here!

So, to start I just want to say that I am sorry, but there won't be any pics yet. My mom was the photographer and she has all the pics on her camera, so when she comes over tonight I'll download them all and put some on here. I'll try to make this short because labor stories might not be so interesting to everyone. Nathan and I went in on Tuesday morning at 6am for the induction. By 6:45 they had ruptured my membranes (I sound fancy, huh?) and at noon I was still only dilated to a one. (That's what I was when I went in.) Well, I'm a wimp, so I got my epidural then even though the nurse didn't think I needed one yet. Easy for her to say. She wasn't the one in labor. At about 5:00 I was dilated to a five and ten minutes later the doctor came in touch check me and I was an 8. Well, Maya wasn't having too much fun in there and her heart rate was all over the place. They mentioned doing a c-section which I was all for at that point because I was miserable and exhausted, but the doc said to wait and I ended up being fine. At nine I was finally dilated to a 10 and I could finally start pushing. Yay! The epidural was finally working at that point after kind of being dumb all day, and I could not feel a thing. I didn't think I would ever be able to push her out, but after about 45 minutes at 9:48 after 15 hours of labor out came our beautiful little Maya May. Well, I have to admit I'm not the best mom and I totally thought she looked like a slimy little frog, but she totally cutened up later. I'm probably the only mom on the face of the planet that didn't think my baby was the most beautiful thing in the world, but that's ok. Anyway, she's a short fat little thing at 8 lbs. 70z. and is 19.5 inches and she didn't lose any weight in the hospital. She has an appetite like her daddy. So, that's our story. We're so glad to be home and feel so blessed to have a healthy beautiful little girl. We'll post pictures as soon as we have the chance!

What's wrong with this picture?

So, I didn't want to post a picture because as you can see I look like crap, but for posterity's sake I thought I should just go ahead and take one now in case I never have the chance again. Unfortunately I'll probably have lots more chances to take pregnant pics because it looks like I'll be pregnant for a little longer. Today is my due date and I'm still very much pregnant. I went to the doctor yesterday and I'm still only dilated to a one, so we scheduled my induction for Tuesday at 6am. Yay! Well, kind of. Tuesday is actually the worse possible day to be induced. Nathan has a project due that night and has to go to class and has two tests the next day, but what can you do? Hopefully she'll decide to come on her own, but at this point it's not looking like that is going to happen. It's a little depressing I'm not gonna lie, but at least she and I are both healthy. I guess it's better to be late than too early. Hopefully the next post I make will include pics of our little girl! Wish us luck!

7 days and counting...

Just a quick little update. I went to the doctor today and I am officially dilated to one whole centimeter. Pretty exciting, right? That only took two weeks, so in another couple of months I should be ready to have this baby. I'm sure a lot of women are 11 months pregnant when they deliver. Seriously...what is wrong with me?? Why won't she just come out already? I'm trying hard not to complain. It's a blessing to even be pregnant in the first place, and I realize that. BUT, I am completely 100% miserable. I'm throwing up everyday, I have permanent menstrual-like cramps, I can't breathe when I lay down, and every once in awhile she decides to sit, or should I say do a headstand on my sciatic nerve and the pain almost paralyzes me. It's pretty fun. At this point my title is a little inaccurate. It's probably more like 14 days and counting because I'll probably have to be induced. Really though...aside from the nine months of morning sickness and this last miserable month I've had a great pregnancy. There have been no complications at all. She's apparently the perfect size (7.5 lbs.-which seems kind of gigantic to me), and thanks to all the morning sickness I haven't gained that much weight. I really am blessed, and I'll be even more grateful when this stubborn little thing is finally here. Wish me luck. Hopefully she'll be here by Wednesday!

Baby Bump

Well, this is me at 27 weeks. I'm now almost 37 weeks, so this picture is a little outdated. I'll try to take another one soon because I'm obviously a lot larger than this right now. In this picture I'm still wearing my wedding rings, and I definitely can't wear them anymore because I am way too swollen...sad!

Baby Shower!

A few weeks ago I had my baby shower given by my wonderful little sister Megan and two of my good friends Jenny and Alyson. It was the best shower. They did such a good job putting it all together and EVERYTHING was pink which I absolutely loved. For little party favors they had pink M&M's stamped with Maya (the baby's name) and pretty in pink. They were super cute! And there was lots of good food which is always important because I'm in love with food. So, here's some pics from the shower.

Of course I can't figure out how the put the pics last or how to put captions under them.

The first pic is some of my family and friends racing to see who can drink the Sprite the fastest. I also played that game and it was NOT a good idea. I felt so sick afterwards. The second pic is me with my friend Jenny and the way cute diaper bag she got for me. At the shower there was a separate table for all the presents she got the baby. I think it's safe to say that this is going to be one spoiled baby! And the last pic is me in the cute rocking chair my mom got for me and some of my presents. There were lots of other cuter pictures, but they're all on my mom's camera. Maybe I'll do a different post later with some of those.

26 days and counting!

So, once again I have been really bad about blogging. I've meant to take a pic to show off my beautiful baby bump, but I rarely get ready anymore...ok, I NEVER get ready anymore, and when I do post a pic I would like to look halfway decent. My baby shower was also a few weeks ago, and I have yet to blog about that. It just takes me forever to make a post because I'm still really bad at this whole blogging thing. Anyway, I went to the Doctor for my weekly appointment yesterday hoping that he would tell me I was dilated to 9 and rush me off to labor and delivery where I would push for a few minutes and ta da! she would be here. No such luck...I have four weeks to go and absoultely nothing is going on down there. Now, they say that's normal, but I really want to have this baby on Thanksgiving, and at this point that's not gonna happen. I told the Doc's assistant or whoever she was that I wanted to have the baby early, so she told me that many people have said that what got them into this was what got them out. My friend told me that she heard a foot massage would do the trick...I think I'll try that first...

So, this is probably one of the more boring things I have posted so far. I'll try to get on later today and post pics from my baby shower. We'll see...

I've Been Tagged!

A.The rules are posted at the beginning.
B. Each Person answers questions about their sweethearts
C. At the End of the post, the person then tags people and posts their names; then goes to their blog and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged.

So, my friend Wendy tagged me to answer some questions about my wonderful hubby!

What is your husbands name? Nathan Joseph

How long have you guys been married? 2 years

How long did you date? dated for a month and engaged for four months...

How old is he? 24

Who eats more sweets? we both eat way too many, but I would have to say probably Nathan

Who said I love you first? Nathan

Who is taller? Nathan

Who can sing the best? neither of us could sing to save our lives, but I think I'm a little bit better than he is

Who is smarter? I'd say it's pretty equal-it just depends on what we're talking about

Who does the laundry? that would definitely be me, but I'm having a hard time balancing a laundry basket on my huge stomach so he carries the laundry downstairs to the washer and dryer for me...and then makes me do it.

Who pays the bills? both of us. we really don't have any kind of bill paying system....we should probably have one, huh?

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? me unless I get scared at night (that happens often...I'm kind of weird) and then I make Nathan trade me spots, so I don't have to sleep by the door.

Who mows the lawn? lawn? yeah, those are for people who are lucky enough to not live in an apartment

Who cooks dinner? I would say me, but I don't know if throwing a Stouffer's lasagna in the oven counts as cooking

Who drives? I HATE driving, so it's definitely not me

Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? usually me...Nathan doesn't really do anything wrong...chessy as that may sound, it's pretty true. But, I like to blame everything I do wrong on the pregnany hormones.

Who kissed who first? Nathan kissed me

Who asked who out first? neither really...we had a weird dating experience. well, not weird-just different

Who wears the pants? usually me...when it comes to money though, Nathan kind of takes control

So, now I tag Shyann and Shara to tell us all about their wonderful husbands.

Daddy's Girl

I have been meaning to blog about my dad for awhile now, but have put it off for lots of different reasons. For those of you who don't know, my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer in April of 2007. He was given about 6-8 months to live, but made it about a year and half before he passed away on September 7th. It has been a tough year and half and an even tougher month as my brother and sister and I have had to deal with him being gone, but a lot of positive things have come out of this tough situation. My dad never ceased to amaze me with his positive attitude and his determination to beat the cancer. At his funeral the minister talked about how it was my dad's fear that his children would blame God for this horrible thing that was happening, and it was a great comfort to me to know that my dad didn't blame God. Everything truly does happen for a reason, and while I don't know all of the reasons that this has happened or what exactly I'm supposed to learn from this trial, I was able to see a different side of my dad and I was able to have a relationship with him that I haven't had over the past several years. I think about him everyday and I'll never stop missing him, but I know that Heavenly Father will continue to bless me with the strength to get through this until the day that I see my dad again.

Cardinals Game!

A few weeks ago Nathan and I went to Cards game with our friends Josh and Shyann. It was the first time we had been able to go to a game all summer, and unfortunately it was a pretty boring game. We left in the 6th or 7th inning and no one had even scored yet. I think they even ended up losing the game. Oh, well...if nothing else the food is good, right?

Viva Las Vegas!

For those of you that don't know, I'm a little obsessed with Elton John, so this is me at the Elton John store pretending to play the piano.

Here is Wendy and I with the blue man after watching the Blue Man Group. It was probably the craziest thing I have ever seen, but it was so amazing. If any of you ever have the chance to see them definitely do it.

I don't know what just happened with that last post, but all it posted was the title. I'm still figuring this whole blogging thing out...obviously. So, this post was a long time coming. In March I went out to visit one of my bf's, Wendy, and am just now getting around to changing the batteries in my camera, so that I can actually get to the pcitures. It was tons of fun, and it was so good getting to see Wendy again. As much as I love living with Nathan, it's not the same as living with my Wendy Anne. He just doesn't get into the daily lunch dates, staying up all night watching lifetime movies, and the midnight runs to Horkley's to get penny candy and Mt. Dew. I guess there are some things that only girlfriends are good for. I still love you though, Nathan.

This one is for you Wendy. Two posts in one week...aren't you proud? Love you, girl!

God Blessed the Broken Road...

It's hard to believe that at this exact time two years ago Nathan and I had just been sealed in the St. Louis temple. How time flies! And for one of the first times in my life I'm really at a loss for words. I feel so blessed to have Nathan in my life...I really am the luckiest girl in the world. It has been a crazy two years with a lot of ups and downs...probably more downs than ups, and I could never have gotten through any of it without Nathan. I never believed in soul mates and finding "the one," but then I met Nathan and I really believe that he is the only for me. I'm looking forward to everything the future holds for us, especially our little daughter coming in December! I love you, Nathan!

It's a GIRL!

I know it has been about a million years since I have updated my blog, but I am back and with some very exciting news! Nathan and I are going to have a baby girl! Yay! We had our ultrasound yesterday and it was amazing. I bawled through the entire thing while Nathan and my mom just sat there like the rocks that they are. I guess someone has to be the emotional one. We are both very excited, and I will do my best to keep everyone updated on what's going on in our lives.

Here are 7 things you may not know about me...

1. I love pajamas! Half of my wardrobe consists of pajama pants. I would never wear regular clothes if I didn't have to, and I usually don't. My faves are Victoria's Secret Pink collection pants. They're super cute and very comfortable.

2. I'm really shy. I'm not sure if that's something that people know or not, but a lot of times I hear from people that they thought I was stuck up until they got to know me better. I promise I'm not stuck up, I just have to be approached first, and even then it takes me awhile to get out of my shell.

3. I love Elton John. I don't know what it is about him, but I think he's one of the most talented people I've ever seen or heard. It's a lifelong goal of mine and my friend Jen's to be able to go see one of his concerts. The problem is that he usually only plays in Vegas and the tickets are around $200, and sadly we just don't have that kind of money. Wish us luck on this one!

4. The smell of the mall is my favorite. If Ralph Lauren made a new scent called "mall" I would wear it. There's just something about that smell that I love. Everytime we go to the mall I'm always telling Nathan how wonderful it smells, and then he tells me I'm crazy.

5. I definitely share Kory's trait of being easily embarassed. I too am one of those people that turns red during an uncomfortble testimony. I obvisouly get embarassed for myself as well. I'll say something and then for days after that be embarassed that once again I opened my big mouth. I'll have to work on that one.

6. I love animals! Growing up I was not an animal person. I was one of those people that thought people who loved their animals. They're not human, you know? But then after my mission my mom got me a dog, and now she is just the love of my life. I've definitely turned into a dog person. I dress her up and let her sleep with me at night...it's just ridiculous!

7. I love blogging! I never thought I would enjoy it as much as I do. I could spend forever just looking at people's blogs. I know, I'm kind of a loser, but what can you do?

I now tag Andrea. Not that you don't have enough to do with all of your other blogging endeavors, but you're the only one I know that has a blog. :)

Time for Bath!

We don't have any pics of our baby up here yet, so I thought I would post some of her in the tub...it's her favorite time of the week! Not really...it's sad how much we baby her. She's so cute though that we just can't help it. Those of you with dogs will understand this. I don't know what she's going to do when we have kids.
