I am a horrible blogger, and generally when I do blog it's about specific events or holidays. Well, that or my random vents, so I thought I would share a little bit about what's going on with our cute two year old. I really don't think I could ask for a cuter, more entertaining little kid. She is so much fun and has so much personality. She loves watching Dora and Diego and would watch TV all day if I would let her. She is the cutest dancer and can frequently be found rockin' out to Journey and the Black Eyed Peas. She loves looking at herself in the mirror and being told she's pretty. She definitely won't be lacking for self-esteem. I don't know yet if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Time will tell. She wants nothing to do with potty-training, so unfortunately we will have two kids in diapers. Definitely didn't time that right. She's also speech delayed and will be starting speech therapy pretty soon. She never stops jabbering, but very rarely can you understand what she says. When she learns a new word it's like Christmas. She loves candy and probably has about as many cavities as she does teeth. Thanks mom. She also loves oranges and carrots. Whenever she goes to my mom's she goes to the fridge and pulls out a huge carrot and starts chomping away, so at least she likes healthy foods too. And, of course, she is going to be a big sister in the next couple of weeks. Basically, she is the cutest girl ever, and I'm so grateful that she's mine!

Russell/Mathews Christmas
My mom and dad were friends with Paul and Carla Russell since before I was born. Every Christmas we get together with them and eat pizza and exchange gifts. This year was pretty crazy. You would've thought we gave Maya drugs before we went. The girl was out of control, but entertaining nonetheless. It's been tradition that Jenny (Paul and Carla's daughter), Megan, and I would get matching outfits and take pictures. Last year we opted to start wearing matching pajamas. We couldn't get the boys to join in on our tradition though. In the first picture Maya is tearing open yet another present. Then it's us girls in our PJ's, and finally Maya trying to close herself in the dog kennel. For whatever reason she found that highly entertaining. Maybe I should take advantage of that...

Christmas 2010
It was definitely a wonderful Christmas at the Hawk house. Watching how excited Maya was about everything (and by everything, I mean presents) was so much fun! My sister and her husband were able to come home for Christmas which made it even better. They got in on Christmas Eve night, so they barely made it! We stayed the night at my mom's house that night and opened our Christmas jammies and our ornaments. Every year since I was little my mom and dad bought us Hallmark ornaments. This year Nathan got a Dwight bobblehead, I got an advent Nativity scene, and Maya got a Princess and the Frog to remember our trip to Disney World, and Rapunzel to remember her first trip to the movies to see Tangled. Another tradition we have is for all the kids to have a slumber party and watch Miracle on 34th Street. I was the only one who made it through the movie. They were all a bunch of bums. Maya stayed up longer than everyone. Well, except for me. I didn't sleep at all because I had to get up about 5,000 times to go to the bathroom. The joys of being pregnant. Christmas day my extended family all came over, and I was forced to help out in the kitchen because my mom wasn't feeling well. Remember how I mentioned that I'm not good at baking? Well, I'm not good at cooking either, but my sweet potatoes were pretty darn amazing. I was pretty proud. Here are some pictures from our day.
Maya in her Christmas Jammies.
The kids in our pajamas. I pretty much look like poo, so don't judge.
Nathan and me.
Maya tearing into one of her presents. That girl was so spoiled this year. We really need an extra bedroom in our house, so we can have a toy room. I still don't know what I'm going to do with all of her presents.

Christmas Cookies
I hate baking. Hate it more than anything. The only thing enjoyable about it is eating the end product which I usually don't even like. I'm not big on cakes and cookies, but since I have been pregnant I crave sweets all the time, so I thought I might as well give baking another chance. Plus I thought it would be nice for Maya to have the experience of making Christmas cookies. Not only do I hate baking, but I'm not very good at it either. My friend and I attempted to make cookies when we were younger and we set the oven on fire, and I have never really baked since. Luckily Nathan is pretty good at it, so the cookies actually turned out. Hooray! Here are some pictures of Maya from our little adventure. She ended up doing a lot more eating than helping.

Maya Turns Two!
Maya turned two on December 9th. I can't even believe she is that old already! Her birthday was pretty low key this year. We decided that we just wanted it to be us and Maya, so we didn't do a big family thing like we did last year. It worked out really well to do it that way though because she was sick. She didn't even eat her cake, and this girl never turns down sweets. We got her a tricycle for her birthday which she uses as a chair when she watches Dora. We should probably teach her how to pedal.
